Get rid of unwanted documents and do your part for the environment just in time for Earth Day! The Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) semi-annual Secure Your ID Day is this Saturday. The BBB is hosting these free shred events across the country, so click here to find out if they have a location in your state or city.
As written on their website, “BBB Shred Day is an opportunity for local consumers and businesses to prevent identity theft and help the environment through free on-site document shredding, as well as paper, cell phone and computer recycling. BBB Shred Day is held in communities throughout BBB’s service area.”
In Austin/Round Rock, BBB’s Shred Day will be held:
On: Saturday, April 21st – 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
At: Dell’s Round Rock Campus (Building #8 at 2401 Greenlawn Blvd)

Did you know that January is Get Organized Month? If you are ready to get organized this month, have I got the event for you!
It’s that time again–Saturday, January 28th is the 6th annual NAPO-Austin ‘Clear Your Clutter Day’ sponsored by the Austin Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO).
This year the event will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church 10010 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750.
Drop off for FREE — ONE CARLOAD PER HOUSEHOLD of:
- Up to three boxes of paper to be shredded
- Women’s new or gently used career clothing and accessories
- New or gently used shoes (men’s/women’s/children’s)
- Discarded flattened moving boxes
- Used cell phones and computers and electronics
- Useable unwanted items (furniture, books, clothes, rugs, art, etc.)
- Non-useable unwanted items** (a/k/a JUNK)
- Mobility assistance devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs, etc.)

Don’t forget! UFCU’s Austin Shred Day is this weekend!
Criminals need very little information to steal identities, and garbage cans offer an abundance of information from paperwork. Bring up to two file boxes of paper per household for free confidential shredding. Commercial high-volume shredders, courtesy of Iron Mountain, will be on-site to shred your records.
UFCU’s Risk Manager Chris Miller will also be available to answer any questions and/or concerns about identity theft and other fraud issues.
