Jewelry Organizing Part 4

by Angela on January 25, 2012

Happy organizing! This is the fourth and final post in my Jewelry Organizing Series.  Please click here if you missed Part 1, Part 2, or Part 3.  Today I will be sharing some all-in-one pieces to organize all your baubles and bangles.  Above is a small but mighty jewelry organizer.  As an all in one it has ample room for earrings, short and long necklaces, and rings.  There is not much room for bracelets, but depending on how much you have that might not be a problem.  I could not find where this exact piece came from, but I found two similar ones at Brookstone and  Improvements.  This jewelry box is nice because it is hidden behind a mirror and is small enough it can hang in your closet, bedroom, or bathroom.

Wow!  Can you imagine?!  What a great idea: a jewelry organizer behind a full length mirror in your closet!  Love this, want this look from Weaver Custom Homes.  Remember is you are a DIYer you can recreate this look in your own space!  This has ample hooks for necklaces and the fabulous trays for earrings, bracelets, and accessories.

Another take on the jewelry box hidden behind a full-length mirror.  This free standing option may be better for someone in a smaller space who does not have extra room in a closet.  I hate to even say where you can get it, but in case this would be the perfect solution for you you can find it at QVC.    Just don't go crazy and buy more jewelry while you are there.

Finally, here is a fun and smaller version of the full length mirror jewelry organizer.  From PB Teens this jewelry organizer mounts to the wall and measures 4 feet tall.  Personally, I like this mid-size version the best in regards to size.  I also love the fun interior fabric.  The jewelry organizer is  picture above open and below closed.  The PB Teen site says this one is no longer available, but if you are interested I would keep checking their site as they release new products regularly.

I hope this jewelry organizing series gave you lots of ideas for your own space.  As always please share your thoughts by posting a comment below or sending me a note.

Jewelry Organizing Part 3

by Angela on January 18, 2012

Organizing jewelry can really be fun, especially if you incorporate your beautiful jewelry into you decor.  Last week in Jewelry Organizing Part 2 – Necklaces I showed you some creative ways to organize necklaces.  In this post I’m going to show you some creative things you can do to display and organize bracelets and accessories.

Pictured above is a simple wooden crate with two glass bottles used to hold bracelets.  What a fun and eco friendly idea!  If you are worried about the glass bottles falling I would recommend attaching  something to the bottom of the bottles like the 3M Command Frame Stabilizer Strips.  The Command products can typically be removed easily and are not supposed to damage surfaces.  This fun idea comes from Decoratrix.

Another fun idea that anyone can do is paper towel holder re-purposed into a bangle or cuff bracelet holder.  This is nice because you can find paper towel dispensers in many different styles just about anywhere.  You can even use this in a kids room.  I love how easy this is.

In the picture above from Show Me Cute is another example of using fruit, cupcake, or cake stands stacked on top of each other to hold jewelry.  In Jewelry Organizing – Part 1 I showed you another gorgeous example of using stacked stands to hold necklaces, rings and more. Love this idea and so easy to replicate.

Last but not least is the ultimate headband organizer for the DIYer.  Lysssa Beth covered an oatmeal can with two sheets of scrapbook paper and attached it to a candle stick with a hot glue gun.   Instant headband organizer!  The inside of the canister can be used for bows or other hair accessories too.

Next week will be the last post in my Jewelry Organizing series so stay tuned!  As always let me know if you used any of these ideas or how you are organizing your jewelry.

Jewelry Organizing Part 2 – Necklaces

by Angela on January 11, 2012

Isn’t it great how a simple brightly colored necklace can make your entire outfit POP?!  But how do you store all those gorgeous strands of goodness without them looking like a colorful bowl of spaghetti?  This is a common question I hear from client so I have been pursing the web to find loads of gorgeous and creative ideas for you.

The picture above is from blog Flights of Whimsy and is simply gorgeous!  This is an easy DIY project: paint an old frame, attach thin branches to the frame, nail small nails to the branches to hold necklaces.  I like this because it is so easy to use!  All you have to do is take the necklace off it’s individual nail.  You don’t have to take three necklaces off to get to the one you need.  This also makes putting your necklaces away a snap!  When things are easy to put away, you will stay much more organized! You can also visit Flights of Whimsy for more amazing jewelry ideas.

This super quick and easy idea came from blogger This Bird Can Sing.   She used a towel rack with shower curtain hooks to hang and organize her necklaces! This is a great and inexpensive solution with a beautiful result!

This is hands down one of the most creative things I’ve seen in some time.  Ashli from My Mini Manor is amazing and re-purposed cutlery trays to hand jewelry!  Attach wooden trays to a wall and then added hooks to hang necklaces!  She also used the smaller spaces to stack bracelets and other accessories.  You can see more pictures of her amazing makeover on her site, which is one of my new favorite blogs!

Finally, this last picture is a beauty in itself.  The combination of old and rustic with the pearls and gold is yin and yang at it’s best! I found this from Be Different Act Normal.  But practically speaking this rustic rake necklace hanger is such a smart idea!  14 instant necklace holders!  You could probably pick one of these up at a garage sale for $1!

What do you think?  Are you inspired to start organizing some necklaces?  Never fear, I will bring you more jewelry organizing ideas next Wednesday!  Oh and if you missed Jewelry Organizing Part 1 click here.

Gift Wrap Organizing Part 5

by Angela on December 28, 2011

Now that the holidays are over, here are a few final unique ideas for gift wrap storage.

Pictured above is a great idea for long-term gift wrap storage solution.  Use galvanized wire or twine and a few screws to turn your unused closet ceiling space in to a handy gift-wrap storage area.  Thanks to Frank Farm for this idea! Love the use of this often forgotten space!

Here is another unique idea to store lots of gift wrap in a nice compact area.  Use the Rationell Varirera plastic bag dispenser from Ikea.  This can also be used to store large pieces of paper or scrapbook paper.  Thanks to the blog Gall-erry from Germany for this fabulous idea!

Gift Wrap Organizing Part 4

by Angela on December 21, 2011

This round of gift wrap organizing is dedicated to people with less space.  In the photo above from BHG they used a desktop file box to hold rolls of gift wrap.  They used a wall mounted grid system which holds different size baskets for all your gift wrapping  accessories.  You could put this in a closet or a corner of a desk.

A gift wrap drawer!  I love this!  This comes from blog The Complete Guide to Imperfect Home and would be perfect in the bottom drawer of a guest room.

Now this simple compact gift wrap center from Home Made Simple may take the cake!  Use a laundry hamper to hold rolls of gift wrap.  They used over the door hooks to hang bags from with gift wrapping essentials.  Store the hooks and bags inside the basket when your gift wrapping is complete.  Love how portable this self contained gift wrapping wonderland is!

Next Wednesday will be our last set of gift wrap center ideas for this year!  You can also see my previous posts Gift Wrap Organizing, More Git Wrap Organizing, and  Gift Wrap Organizing Part 3.

Gift Wrap Organizing Part 3

by Angela on December 14, 2011

Tis the season for gift wrap and gift wrap organization!  If you follow my blog you know I’ve been posting weekly on Gift Wrap Center Organization.  In Part 1 Gift-Wrap Organizing I shared some tips on using the back of a door or built-in shelves to organize gift wrap and Part 2 More Gift Wrap Organizing I shared three clever ways to organize ribbon. This week I will share thee creative ways to organize a variety of gift wrap supplies.

In the picture above from BHG I like the use of the wire fruit basket to keep all the bows, ribbon, and gift tags close at hand on the counter but still looking gorgeous!  It looks very Anthropologie to me.   If you have a favorite wrapping paper that you use for everything you may want to consider a wrapping paper dispenser as show here.  What a smart idea!  You will never loose your roll of wrapping paper again in the sea of presents, paper, and tags while you are in a wrapping frenzy.  You should also be able to tear the paper off the dispenser too and it should be a straight line! What a fun idea!

In this picture from Real Simple they use a tiered slack hanger to store ribbon and tissue paper.  Skirt hangers were used to hold folded gift wrap and gift bags.  In the back on the left you can see a multi-pocket shoe organizer that is being used for gift tags, ribbon and tools.

Finally, this simple and clever idea to store rolls of wrapping paper using a wine rack comes from Scrapbooks etc.   Another great idea for keeping paper close at hand during the holidays so your paper isn’t getting lost in the shuffle.  So simple yet so smart!  Love it!
