If you’re still not following us over there, here’s what you missed last week from the Girlfriends Get Organized blog:

Angela’s still sharing interesting finds from this year’s National Association of Professional Organizers Conference!  This week: the Staples Better Binder, a cool new product from Staples that allows you to remove the entire ring system from the binder (with papers still attached and organized!) and file it in any standard hanging file cabinet.  As with the What’s That Paint Labels, Angela made a video from Conference to share.

Win-It Wednesday has returned, with all of the cool new products procured at Conference! Last week, we gave away a Staples Better Binder. This Wednesday, check out the Girlfriends Get Organized blog for an exciting new giveaway!

Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

by Angela on April 25, 2013

Don’t forget!  THIS Saturday, April 27th, the Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event is being held across the country.  Local law enforcement and the DEA will be collecting expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs to be disposed of safely. In case you didn’t know, you are not supposed to toss your prescription drugs in the toilet as they can contaminate our drinking supply.  An article from Reuters on the topic of prescription drug abuse states “Among the chronic abusers, 41 percent obtain pills for free or without asking from friends and relatives”.  It’s best to get old prescription drugs out of your cupboards as quickly as possible!

To participate in a Prescription Drug Take Back Day near you, simply find a location in your city (click here to search for the site nearest you) any time between 10 AM and 2 PM.

The locations in the Austin area are:
NORTHEASTCornerstone Church (1101 Reinli Street; 78723)
SOUTHEAST –
City of Austin Household Hazardous Waste Facility (2514 Business Center Drive; 78744)
WEST –
Barton Creek Square Mall (2901 S. Capital of Texas Highway; 78746)
CENTRAL –
University of Texas Student Services Center (100 West Dean Keeton; 78712)

For more information about safely disposing of prescription drugs, check out this blog post from the POSH blog archives.

Happy Spring Cleaning!
