Container Store New Gift Registry

by Angela on October 11, 2011

What more could an organized girl ask for? Yes, that’s right, The Container Store now has gift registry! I was browsing my local Container Store just the other day and the music started play: “going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married…”, then a voice came over the air waves talking about this new and exciting program. That’s right–just like you can create a gift registry at many other stores when you are getting married, having a baby, or have a birthday, now you can do the same at the Container Store.

Here’s what is so exciting about this program: anyone can register even if you’re not getting married! If you have a student going off to college, you can now they can create a gift registry to outfit their new dorm or apartment. Birthday coming up and you have a big organizing project? Register! New house? Register for your house warming! Wouldn’t you rather get things you really want and need than have people spend their hard earned dollars on something you won’t use.

But they saved the best for last! When your event is over, you will receive a 10% savings on the items that have yet to be purchased from your list! This way you can purchase all the things you still need and get a little discount on them! Visit The Container Store for all the details.

Cleaning for a Reason

by Angela on February 11, 2011

During a major life transition, sometimes the most difficult things to keep up with are one’s normal weekly chores, especially for those going through extensive medical treatment. That’s where Cleaning for a Reason comes in! Cleaning for a Reason is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women undergoing treatment for cancer by providing professional house cleaning services. This organization pairs licensed and bonded maid services throughout the US and Canada who wish to help with women in need of support during their cancer treatment. Over 4,000 women have benefitted from Cleaning for a Reason’s services since May of 2006.

If you are a maid service, you can offer your time and skills to Cleaning for a Reason by filling out a simple form on this page. Cancer patients may submit applications through the website by following these instructions. And individuals may donate either directly through the website (Cleaning for a Reason accepts one-time gifts and monthly donations) or by purchasing items from their shop.

How much were your donations worth?

by Angela on February 4, 2011

Tax time is here! If you’re like most people, you’re busy getting your tax documents together and hoping for a big refund. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you on that. Regardless, as you go through your tax documents, you may run across several donation receipts and wonder how you should record these in your tax return. It can be difficult to determine the value of the items you’ve donated.

Fortunately for us, the Savlation Army has put a list together with the high and low values of items based on their condition. Take a look at their web-site before you finish up your tax preparation. You might be surprised how much your old things are worth!

Send New Year’s Cards

by Angela on December 16, 2010

If the season is getting the best of you and you don’t’ know how you are going to get the shopping done, the holiday cards out, and bake a holiday meal.  Then you may want to consider sending out a New Year’s card instead of a traditional Christmas card.  I have made this a tradition in my household for many years now.  It gives me the chance to really reflect on the end of one year while saving a bit of time during the mad rush of December.

I have also received many comments from friends and family who like that they receive my card in January because they don’t just glance at it and throw it in a stack with the other cards.  They have a chance to look at the card and enjoy it more.  One year I even sent Valentine’s cards!  People loved it!

If you have too much to do right now then consider sending out your cards after the holidays.  I have also started using Send Out Cards which has been amazing.  I can create my cards on my computer including photos of my kids, sign it with my signature and then click a button and the cards are sent.  I don’t have to hand address the cards, go to the post office, or even put stamps on the cards.  It’s a beautiful thing!

So give yourself a break this year and if your cards have not gone out yet, consider waiting until December 30th.

Happy Holidays,
