Mark your calendars! On Saturday, April 27th, the Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event is being held across the country. Local law enforcement and the DEA will be collecting expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs to be disposed of safely. In case you didn’t know, you are not supposed to toss your prescription drugs in the toilet as they can contaminate our drinking supply. An article from Reuters on the topic of prescription drug abuse states “Among the chronic abusers, 41 percent obtain pills for free or without asking from friends and relatives”. It’s best to get old prescription drugs out of your cupboards as quickly as possible!
