Dream Closet – Elton John’s Sunglasses

by Angela On August 10, 2012

Elton John’s sunglass closet.  From Architectural Digest.

I guess it should come as no surprise that Elton John has an entire closet dedicated to sunglasses!  Let’s take a quick look in this week’s The Good, The Bad, and The Realistic.

The Good.

For having 225 plus pairs of sunglasses, this is a pretty amazing way to store them!  I love how this is done.  Floor to ceiling on tilting trays–it’s brilliant.  The other brilliant thing is how they are taking advantage of the very unusual shape of this little space and using it all the way up to the ceiling.  Since the walls of this space tilt in, becoming very narrow towards the ceiling, there is very little room for real usable storage.  But this closet does it perfectly.

The Bad.

I could be wrong, but it does not appear that the sunglasses are grouped together by color, shape, or size.  Perhaps they are grouped together by performance or in another way that may not be obvious to us.  If these glasses are not in some kind of order, it would make it very difficult to find a specific pair.

The Reality.

Well, having a sunglass closet may not be a reality for most people, but you can learn from what was done in Elton’s closet.  Even if you have an unusual  shaped closet, you can still take advantage of the shape and use it to it’s maximum capacity.  You just might need to get a little creative.

What do you think about Elton’s sunglass closet?  Does he have way too many pairs, or is this about what you would have expected?
