Where to Dispose of Prescription Drugs

by Angela On April 14, 2012

Across the country Spring has sprung! So of course the change in season may have sparked your inner-organizer to emerge full of life and energy!!! So as you start to tackle your organizing projects please keep this in mind when you start working on your medicine cabinet.

Did you know that (according to the Partnership for a Drug Free America) approximately 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time every day? Or that most abused prescription drugs are taken directly from friends and family, including the home medicine cabinet?

On Saturday, April 28th, the Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. During this event, being held across the country, local law enforcement and the DEA will be collecting expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs to be disposed of safely. To participate, simply go to one of a variety of locations in your city (click here to search for the site nearest you) any time between 10 AM and 2 PM.

Among the locations in the Austin area are:
Austin: Barton Creek Square Mall at 2910 Capital of Texas Highway
Round Rock: Round Rock Police Department at 2701 North Mays
Cedar Park:Cedar Park Police Department at 911 Quest Parkway

Georgetown: Scott & White Health Clinic at Sun City, 4945 Williams Dr.

Happy Spring Cleaning!
