Don’t forget this Saturday, April 28th, the Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event is being held across the country. Local law enforcement and the DEA will be collecting expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs to be disposed of safely. In case you didn’t know, you are not supposed to toss your prescription drugs in the toilet as they can contaminate our drinking supply. Also a recent article from Reuters on the topic of prescription drug abuse states “Among the chronic abusers, 41 percent obtain pills for free or without asking from friends and relatives”. It’s best to get old prescription drugs out of your cupboards as quickly as possible.
To participate in a Prescription Drug Take Back Day near you, simply find a location in your city (click here to search for the site nearest you) any time between 10 AM and 2 PM.
Among the locations in the Austin area are:

Round Rock: Round Rock Police Department at 2701 North Mays
Cedar Park:Cedar Park Police Department at 911 Quest Parkway
