Keri’s Fairy Godmother Foundation

by Angela On September 20, 2011

For more than five years, Keri Byers has been outfitting low-income girls and women in the greater Austin area with formal dresses and accessories through her Fairy Godmother Foundation. Although originally founded so that teenage girls wouldn’t have to miss their prom just because they couldn’t afford a dress, the program now offers dresses to women of all ages and for any formal event. In addition, the foundation runs two other unique programs: Project Bling, which sells handmade barrettes through local businesses to raise funds, and the Diva Day Out Mentoring Program, which provides at-risk girls with a day of pampering.

Byers and her husband have been providing the funds for the foundation since its inception in 2006, but with her husband now out of work, the foundation is starting to strain the family finances. They are currently looking for volunteers and donations to help keep the foundation open and running.

For more information about this program, or to learn how you can help, visit their website or call 512-507-6364.
