DEA National Take Back Initiative

by Angela On April 27, 2011

Did you know that (according to the Partnership for a Drug Free America) approximately 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time every day? Or that most abused prescription drugs are taken directly from friends and family, including the home medicine cabinet?

This Saturday, April 30th, the Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. During this event, being held across the country, local law enforcement and the DEA will be collecting expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs to be disposed of safely. To participate, simply go to one of a variety of locations in your city (click here to search for the site nearest you) any time between 10 AM and 2 PM.

Among the locations in the Austin area are:
Austin: Cornerstone Church at 1101 Reinli Street
Round Rock: Walsh Middle School at 3850 Walsh Ranch Boulevard
Cedar Park:Hill Country Bible Church at 12124 Ranch Road 620 North

For more information about safely disposing of prescription drugs, check out this blog post from the POSH blog archives.
